About us: Barb's Girls is a loose collective of women (not a collection of loose women!!), united by our love of a wide range of hand stitching. We originally came together in the early 1990's under the guidance of our late teacher and mentor Barb, and have continued as an independent group since. Breast cancer affects all women, either directly or indirectly, and has touched our group personally. We were inspired by the Canadian initiative (The Quilt), and decided we could introduce a similar event in Australia. We were so excited about the success of our first venture in 2007, so are now organising the 2010 QuiltDownunder auction. As with most patchwork groups, various members of our group are also involved in other charity causes - for example, making quilts for victims of the 2009 Victorian bushfires (for which Ann has received several community awards) and making quilts for children in the Royal Children's Hospital oncology ward.
