The QuiltDownunder 2010

$29,000 raised!

The QuiltDownunder 2010 auction was held on Saturday October 16, and nearly all of the 149 donated quilts were sold. So many quilts meant that it was a buyer's market, so prices for most quilts were low. However, the buyers were delighted with their purchases, and donors can feel proud that their quilts are being treasued, and significant funds were raised to support the Breast Cancer Network Australia.

Details of the prices paid for each quilt are available on the Quilts for Auction page. The top four quilts were Australiana Botanica (Quilt 117), Pat's Friendship Quilt (134), The Geisha (147) and Shikaku (135).

The few quilts which were not sold have been donated to the Very Snuggly Quilts progam, which gives take-home quilts to children in the oncology ward of the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.

If you bought a quilt at the auction, the quilt donor would love to hear where their quilt finished up. If you want to send us a note, we're happy to pass it on to the donor. Already, some lucky purchasers have sent lovely thank-you cards. Remember to tell us which quilt you bought, so we can direct your note to the right person or group.

On a personal note, the organisers of this auction (Barb's Girls) are particularly grateful for everyone's generosity in supporting this event, either as a donor, buyer or sponsor. One of our beloved members, Ann, lost her battle with breast cancer in October, and we are proud that our efforts can help others, as Ann was helped.
